
The tune for 'Merry Xmas Everybody' came to me in a shower in Memphis" he states. Just to prove that the inspiration for a good song can come at any time, Jimmy can thank his daily ablutions for his most fondly-remembered song. "John Lennon was doing his 'Mind Games' album there at the same time, so I was using the same piano that Lennon was.it was an odd feeling". Jimmy Lea remembers being in awe of recording the song at such a famous studio.

The Americans hanging about were staring at us and thinking 'Mad must have seemed pretty stupid to them". To get the sound we wanted we did some recording from the corridor and we were singing 'Merry Xmas Everybody' in the middle of a sweltering summer.
